I got to finally meet Rachel Held Evans this week while she was visiting Pennsylvania doing research for her next book. She has an excellent post today quoting from Madeleine L’Engle in Walking on Water.

My reaction was this simple prayer:

God help me to never lose my thirst for passion, my sensitivity toward anguish, my humility toward uncertainty, my openness to doubt, my empathy in despair.
